But for the foreseeable future, the edgier Fox figures to remain king of the animation hill among broadcast webs. And not even hints of a brewing rivalry between The Simpsons and King have tarnished the shows' four-color luster. "Everyone seems to get along really well in animation" in general, Judge insists. "Once in a while there's some competition with trying to hire away someone else's directors or something, but that rarely happens. Everyone just wants animation to do well so they can have jobs."

"Both shows benefit each other," agrees Scully. "And the important thing is to, you know, kick Touched by an Angel's butt."
