Lead Performance: Bee Gees

The widely misunderstood Brothers Gibb have produced much eccentrically brilliant music, but their recent albums have been scattershot affairs. That's the case with the Bee Gees' slickly crafted but uninspired Still Waters, which taps into contemporary urban pop with mostly tepid results. Still, ''Alone'' and ''Smoke and Mirrors'' recapture the melancholy majesty of the trio's best work, demonstrating that these hoary vets still have a few tricks up their sleeves. C
