A dusty sense of deja vu pervades The Visitors, this French comedy about a medieval knight (Jean Reno) and his vassal (Christian Clavier) who are magically transported to a present-day suburb. There, they meet their tres bourgeois descendants, who've turned the knight's grand castle into a glorified B&B. That's about as clever as the culture shock gets; for the most part, the gags are standard encounters with cars, telephones, and modern plumbing. You may want to rent this curio (briefly released Stateside) to find out why it was such a smash in France. Or you can save some time by remembering that the French are also tres enamored of Mickey Rourke. C
