Joan (Milla Jovovich) comes off as a wild-eyed crazy who Talks...Like...This in Luc Besson's oddly compelling, often absurd take on the medieval saint's life (the battle scenes have a distinct Monty Python-ishness, with plenty of head lopping and arcane weaponry). That her divine message to lead France into battle was actually a sublimated desire for revenge against the English is an interesting premise, but, really, what's kvetchy Dustin Hoffman doing as her conscience? C+
