A distinct country influence has long been bubbling under jazz-and-then-some guitar hero Bill Frisell's music. On Nashville, he lets it rule the roost, and the result is one of the freshest variations on mostly unplugged C&W around. Frisell lays down his sweet and languid sound, getting help from such folks as Dobro king Jerry Douglas and vocalist Robin Holcomb. It's lazy, smart, twilight-on-the-back-porch music. B+
