Details Lead Performance: Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor's EP is not exactly a laughing matter, but she's put aside her furious indignation for some quiet contemplation in Gospel Oak. Even ''This IS a Rebel Song'' is more lullaby than revolution. Such weepy solemnity suits O'Connor's clear blue soprano, and she certainly has melody on her side — but these six sobering songs make one long for the cathartic monster wail of her early hit ''Mandinka.'' B
