Lead Performance: Jon Bon Jovi
B+
This solo set exhibits a sparse Western duskiness, closer to Garth Brooks than to pop-metal. Almost every track on Destination Anywhere could be faster, shorter, and less world-weary, but Bon Jovi's melodies feel indelible nonetheless. Reminiscing about walking on New Orleans' wild side, he warms your heart; mourning the hit-and-run murder of a girl, he builds toward a righteous rage. B+
