Leave it to the irrepressible Leguizamo the cross-dressing Chi Chi Rodriguez in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar to try to out-Carrey master Jim. But as a mile-a-minute scam artist on the run from Miami's kilted Scottish Mob (who knew?) and a German headhunter (Jones, best remembered as the bedraggled principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off), the agile satirist is weighted down by a script full of juvenile humor and hackneyed stereotypes of race, nationality, and sexual orientation. Repellent to theatergoers, The Pest proves just as bothersome on tape. D+
