Add to that the perpetual need of aging baby boomers to evoke their glory days. (Witness VH1's recent special Bill Clinton: Rock & Roll President, in which our Commander-in-Chief reminisced about such influences as Elvis Presley, Simon and Garfunkel, and Joni Mitchell.) "A lot of [Hollywood's big]filmmakers are in their 30s and 40s," says Myron. "So there's a nostalgia factor. They're interested in the topics that influenced their lives."

And, adds Myron, "there's a segment of the audience that's growing older and becoming tired of movies aimed at 12-year-olds." Wait — does that mean we won't be seeing a big-budget take on the Monkees?
