Fallen Is Babylon (1997)

Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers' pop-reggae instincts in Fallen Is Babylon are offset by a hip-hop assist from Fugees' Wyclef Jean on ''Everyone Wants to Be'' and the singing of brother Stephen Marley, whose raw, reedy vocals on ''Postman'' smolder like an untended spliff. There's also a cover of Curtis Mayfield's ''People Get Ready,'' on which all four siblings revel in reggae's rootsier past. At last, a Melody Makers album that'd make Father proud. B+
