Lead Performances: Ike Turner and Tina Turner
B
Half the tracks on this set of freshly remixed '60s and '70s rarities (including two previously unreleased ones) are slight. But the peak performances on Back in the Day by Ike & Tina Turner a ferociously sensual ''Sweet Rhode Island Red'' and a dramatic live interpretation of the Etta James hit ''All I Could Do Was Cry'' are as urgently compelling as anything Tina has ever done.
