BUILT FORD TOUGH
In 50 years, the truth about Harrison Ford (#390, Aug. 1) will
finally be recognized: Of all the actors working in the latter
half of the 20th century he's the best, yet he's also the most
underexposed. I, for one, appreciate seeing him get the
occasional EW cover. It confirms my belief that you folks know a
legend in the making when you see one.

I want to thank you guys for the very informative ''The Plane and
Simple Truth.'' I'm always interested in stuff like that, and
there is nothing better than reading about it in my favorite
magazine.

While I loved your article looking at the plausibility of Air
Force One, I was distressed to see the sentence ''He loves
underdog football teams....'' President Marshall is shown to be a
Michigan Wolverines fan, the team with the most wins in the
history of college football. Rare is the occasion that Michigan
is an underdog. By the way, it's a clever homage to another
President Ford, Gerald R., who was a team MVP center at the
University of Michigan in the mid-1930s.

'MURDER' IN THE FIRST
I want to thank you for mentioning Diagnosis Murder in your
contents-page summary of ''Must-Seek TV'' I guess we exist after
all. We were beginning to wonder. Last fall, in your overview of
the new season, you talked about practically every single
prime-time show on the air, except one Diagnosis Murder. It
can't be because no one is watching us. We are beginning our
fifth year this fall, and during the 1996-97 season, we
consistently ranked second in our time slot on Thursday nights.
Hey, we know we aren't The X-Files, NYPD Blue, or ER, but we are
solid, dependable, entertaining television. We're fans of EW we
aren't asking you to love us, just recognize that we're here now
and then.

'LOVE' DOCTORS
Thank you for your recent mention of MTV's Loveline. As far as
I'm concerned, it's the only daily late-night show worth
watching and it's high time it got some publicity from a
magazine such as yours. The show is constructed perfectly, and
the humorous chemistry between cohosts Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew
is excellent. I do have one correction to make: You incorrectly
labeled Loveline a ''former radio show.'' Well, it's still a radio
show. And hopefully, with a little more attention from
publications like EW, in a few years there'll be a big sign in
Times Square with a picture of Dr. Drew and Adam beside a big
''#1!''

CORRECTIONS: Harrison Ford's President James Marshall uses a satellite phone, not a cellular phone, to call the White House from Air Force One (''The Plane and Simple Truth''). 187 director Kevin Reynolds' wife is named Cathy; their children are Nicole, age 4, and Dylan, age 1 1/2 (Behind the Scenes, #391).
