But perhaps the biggest Dimension crossover coup of all may have just become a fait accompli. After Sylvester Stallone signed on for scale and began packing on 40 pounds for Miramax's Cop Land, Dimension paid a paltry $500,000 for the sequel and remake rights to Rambo at Carolco Pictures' bankruptcy auction (a few months earlier, it had also snagged Paul Verhoeven's 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi spectacular Total Recall). Now Dimension execs, no doubt hoping that Sly feels like he owes them one for indulging his mid-career gambit, are in discussions with the star to bring his '80s he-man into the '90s. A chubby Rambo? Now, there's a truly frightening thought.
