WHO AND WHERE: Savannah sexpot JAMIE LUNER drops the accent to become Melrose's
Lexi Sterling, recently divorced wife of Coop.
JOB DESCRIPTION: After suffering from a divorce-induced nervous breakdown, a
vengeful Lexi tracks down her ex in L.A., and, of course, ends
up never leaving town.
THE LOWDOWN: "Lexi gets upset by things, but she doesn't have a screw loose,"
says South. "She's not a character you're going to see go off
the deep end." Give her a few episodes.
WHO AND WHERE: CALLIE THORNE (Turbulence) joins the Homicide team as Laura
Ballard, a detective transferred from Seattle.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The department's new hotshot cop will prove to be yet another
irritation for Frank Pembleton (Andre Braugher).
THE LOWDOWN: "We want her to be in one of those old-style Homicide partner
relationships with [fellow new detective] Stuart Gharty (Peter
Gerety)," says supervising producer Julie Martin.
WHO AND WHERE: Selena and Oz star JON SEDA commits to Homicide as Paul Falsone,
introduced in last season's finale.
JOB DESCRIPTION: He'll be partnered with Meldrick Lewis (Clark Johnson) but end
up clashing with equally hotheaded Kellerman (Reed Diamond).
THE LOWDOWN: "His motto is sort of act first, think later," says Martin.
"Let's just say he's a little bit rougher around the edges."
WHO AND WHERE: MATTHEW (younger brother of Joey) LAWRENCE brings his excellent
fraternal genes to Boy Meets World as Jack.
JOB DESCRIPTION: He'll move into an apartment with long-lost brother Shawn (Rider
Strong), where the two will try to relate as roommates and
brothers.
THE LOWDOWN: "When a series reaches middle age, it needs to be taken apart,"
says exec producer Michael Jacobs. "Matthew is a little older
[17], so we're going to move into that demographic as well."
WHO AND WHERE: Stand-up/author/wicked witch/future talk-show hostess Roseanne gets to play a real alien on 3rd Rock From the Sun.
JOB DESCRIPTION: She comes to earth to marry Dick, causing problems for the clan
(except for Sally, who convinces her doing dishes is the highest
honor for earth women).
THE LOWDOWN: "When Dick tells her love is not an assignment, she says, 'What
a lousy way to run a planet,'" says exec producer Bonnie Turner.
"We've definitely left the door open for her to return."
