The youngest of the Suzzy Roches steps out with a deceptively placid-sounding solo effort whose surface calm belies its emotional turbulence. Downplaying her trademark barbed humor in favor of gently forthright introspection in Holy Smokes, whispery tunes like ''Eggshell'' and ''Two Bumps on a Log'' find Roche confronting troublesome midlife issues with a graciously grown-up sense of acceptance.
