In this tightly paced thriller, The Assassination File, FBI agent Lauren Jacobs (Sherilyn Fenn) hangs up her holster after the winning African-American presidential candidate (Paul Winfield) is assassinated on her watch. When her ex-partner hints that the murder was a conspiracy and gets shot the next day, she's back in the saddle — and dodging Bureau bullets. Fenn's tough but tender G-woman is on the mark, but the vague payoff (done better by The X-Files) pointing to faceless powers behind the powers that be, needs a facelift. C+
