Trysome Eatone (1997)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Love Spit Love; Genre: Rock

Ex-Psychedelic Furs singer Richard Butler has one of pop's most distinctively raspy voices, so you might think his current band would sound like his old one. But Love Spit Love are no imitation Furs; on their second set, Trysome Eatone, they rock with swirling intensity and brooding solemnity. Nothing here is quite as inventive as his former band's ''Sister Europe,'' but that's a tough masterpiece to follow. B+
