Album Review: 'Bean — The Album' (1997)

Details Lead Performance: Various Artists; Genre: Soundtracks

Bean mixes old favorites, covers, new songs by new acts, and dialogue that makes little sense apart from the movie. It's all catchy enough; but 10cc's ''Art for Art's Sake'' is the only inspired oldie, OMC's mariachi-horned take on Randy Newman's ''I Love L.A.'' is the only cover that improves on its source, and Blair's Brit-funk ''Have Fun Go Mad'' is the only new tune that rises above the generic.
