Simpsons fans accustomed to having the dysfunctional TV-'toon clan in their homes are in for a surreal surprise. Through a hilarious CD-ROM doorway, The Simpsons: Virtual Springfield (Fox Interactive, for PC and Mac, $29.98), you can now visit their home, paint the town with them, and even channel-surf Homer's boob tube. Fox, with input from creator Matt Groening and the show's writers, has re-created in 3-D the wacky little burg of Springfield — including the Simpsons' tacky abode — for you to explore (not to mention plenty of booby traps for you to stumble and laugh over). Fifty familiar Simpsons haunts are intricately interactive — the Squishee machine at the Kwik-E-Mart really works — and you can click on and kibitz with the vast supporting cast. Props from the series are everywhere, from the FBI undercover van (cunningly labeled Flowers By Irene) to Lisa's whistle-blowing ''Cesspool on the Potomac'' essay on the fridge. Doh.
