Movie Review: 'Addicted to Love' (1997)

Video is the cinematic court of appeals, where overlooked big-screen features like this fresh romantic comedy about a volatile love quadrangle can get a deserved second chance. Love stars Ryan as Maggie, a wicked-sarcastic motorcycle-riding photographer hell-bent on destroying the life of her ex-lover, Anton (Karyo), a libidinous French restaurateur who left her for a sexy schoolteacher (Preston). As the small-town astronomer whom Anton aced out, Broderick teams up with Maggie to win back their feckless sweethearts. But, of course, that's not what happens. It's a pleasure to watch Ryan, a Carole Lombard for the '90s, put her postmodern screwball spin on the three Rs — romance, rejection, and revenge. A
