A Chinese melodrama set at the start of the Communist revolution, Blush tells the story of two former prostitutes and their post-reeducation liaisons with a former client. It's fairly affecting when director Li Shaohong bothers to depict what happens to the characters; why she chose to have an omniscient narrator summarize what could have been its most powerful scenes is incomprehensible.
