Did New Line and store managers underestimate the market potential of Austin Powers? The math says yes. While Liar Liar held first place, with an average of 56 rentals per store, and Batman & Robin debuted in second, with 54, Mike Myers and Elizabeth Hurley's spy-spoofing comedy managed no better than 28 rentals and fourth place despite scoring a perfect six turns per copy in its first six days. Apparently, the measly 4.7 copies per store couldn't meet the shagadelic demand.
