TV Review: 'Millenium'

EW's GRADE
B

Details Genres: Crime, Sci-fi and Fantasy; With: Lance Henriksen and Megan Gallagher

Fox's first release of the sci-fi series contains two episodes meant to bring the new viewer up to speed. First is the pilot, in which retired FBI agent Frank Black (Henriksen) employs his psychic gift/ curse — the ability to get inside a criminal's mind — to catch a killer targeting potential spreaders of AIDS. The second is ''Gehenna,'' in which Frank pursues an apocalyptic death cult. Both are serviceable, if dour, detective tales. As setups for the series, though, they're maddeningly vague on the origin and purpose of the Millennium Group, Frank's cadre of ex-law enforcers whose assignment is the prevention of the end of the world.
