By day filmmakers ramble through the prairies, pine forests, and hills of Austin and its environs -- which is why, come sundown, they're anxious to check out the town's nightlife. Here's a brief rundown of Austin's most star-studded spots.

-- BEST CELEB WATCHING: McConaughey and his Newton Boys hit the BBQ-and-music-joint Stubb's, sort of a Texas Spago.

-- BEST BLUES CLUB: Has to be Antone's, in the Warehouse District -- Austin's most famous club. A favorite of Judge and new girl in town Bullock, who just bought a house in town.

-- BEST L.A. SPOT IN AUSTIN: Speakeasy, tucked away in an alley in the Warehouse District, houses Linklater's screening room and specializes in chic martinis and big cigars.

-- BEST LOUNGE: Blue Velvet lives at the Carousel Lounge, where Linklater hangs whenever Tarantino is in town.

-- BEST MOVIE HOUSE: The Alamo Draft House Cinema, in the Warehouse District, specializes in first- and second-run films, with beer to wash down the popcorn. Only in Texas.
