THE LAST DAYS OF FRANKIE THE FLY Dennis Hopper, Kiefer Sutherland, Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen (1997, Cabin Fever, R, $92.99) Two dumb hoods have a long philosophical dialogue. A sadistic mobster (Madsen) laughs and sings while he tortures. Somebody loses an ear. Yep, it's another pulpy fiction without a whit of Tarantino's style. Of the four semi-stars, Hopper can't seem to find his motivation as a gang gofer who finally fights back, Hannah's just too cute as a junkie/whore/porn actress, Sutherland is downright annoying, and as for Madsen's brutal bad-guy act -- enough already! D
