Prefontaine

In the first of two planned biopics of '70s track star Steve Prefontaine, the director and the producer of the acclaimed basketball film Hoop Dreams have pretended to make a documentary, throwing in lots and lots of talking heads spouting tributes and expository dialogue. But no matter how much we're told that Pre was admirable, it's hard to care: Jared Leto's Pre just seems distant and driven. Though in his short life — he died in a car wreck at age 24 — Pre broke numerous records, Prefontaine won't break your heart. C-
