Yes opt for well-shaped songwriting over showing off on their umpteenth studio album. And said Open Your Eyes' navel-gazing hogwash about ''the universal garden'' and ''new spirit'' is made palatable by angelic harmonies. Neither as self-indulgent nor as magnificent as they're capable of being, Yes never quite manage the down-to-earth hooks that have kicked their best cosmic explorations into high gear. C+
