Dein Perry's all-male Australian dance sextet is sensational tapping on wood, metal, water, steps, and (with a cable assist) ceilings. But the live performance in Tap Dogs taped in London's Lyric Theatre succeeds mainly in making you wish you had been there. The thunder of the troupe's boots (the theme seems to be men at work) and sizzling blowtorches yes, it's very Flashdance must have filled the house but will barely register in your living room. Though the imaginative sets (the floor is in a constant state of motion, along with the performers) are a treat, the underwhelming sound will leave you growling. Woof. C
