Martin Sherman's brutal, effectively depressing 1979 stage play about a love affair between two men (Lothaire Bluteau and Clive Owen) imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp has not aged well: What was shocking 18 years ago now languishes in kitsch and bathos in a way even director Sean Mathias' spare, highly styled screen adaptation can't overcome. Watch for a flash of rock glamour from Mick Jagger as a nightclub-owning drag queen.
