Lisa Schwarzbaum is a film critic for EW
British director Sally Potter, who trained to be a dancer, stars as angular, reserved, tango-loving filmmaker Sally Potter. Blocked while working on a script, she begins taking tango lessons from Pablo Veron, a real-life Argentinean dancer living in Paris. And in the development of their charged, beautifully realized relationship, the filmmaker expands the idea of lessons to encompass more fundamental issues of dance and partnership than simple footwork.
