Forever Tango

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Luis Bravo

You may want to sign up for dance classes after taking in this plot-free celebration of the Argentinean art. Directed by Luis Bravo, Forever Tango is dynamic when the perfectly synchronized dancers perform — their legs intricately intertwining at lightning speed — but loses momentum when the orchestra plays alone (which is too often). By evening's end, you may wish you'd never heard of the bandoneon, a not-so-distant cousin of the accordion. But the women look smashing in their slinky, sparkling gowns, and the men are elegant — even though they appear to be drowning in Brylcreem. B
