Disney shaped Jay Ward's willfully aimless cartoon-sketch show into a coherent live-action feature by simply contriving some jungle love: Noble savage Brendan Fraser goes cuckoo for Ursula (Leslie Mann), a gal with Jane Goodall's heart and Jane Fonda's cheekbones. The sappy romance gums up the TV series' slyness, but George of the Jungle nonetheless retains some slapstick foolery and snappy dialogue, and Fraser handsomely captures George's broad-jawed oafishness. Plus, armed with your magical remote, you can fast-forward through the schmaltz and head straight to John Cleese's gorilla farts. B-
