Holy Hardy Boys, the Brits are coming to video stores with three unaired episodes of the PBS Mystery!series Brother Cadfael, starring the great English stage actor Sir Derek Jacobi as a 12th-century monk whose true calling is sleuthing. It's hard not to like this soft-boiled Welshman whose forthright nature irritates his superiors and causes -- as in ''A Morbid Taste for Bones,'' in which he suspects a fellow monk of evildoings — all hell to break loose in his abbey. Filmed with period flair, these satisfying yarns based on Ellis Peters' novels bring the Middle Ages to life with stunning detail. Still, the jewel in the crown is Jacobi, whose Cadfael is as subtle as Sherlock Holmes. A-
