Andrei Codrescu's commentaries for NPR have a dry wit and insight, qualities missing in Valley of Christmas, a brittle holiday fable. He can't decide if he wants to flatter his listeners with references to the Klezmer All Stars or vent his contempt for their consumerist leanings. No amount of whimsy can dress up this lump of coal. D
