FOR ROSEANNA Mercedes Ruehl, Jean Reno, Polly Walker (1997, New Line, PG-13, $100.99) In this daffy romantic tale with all the outsize passion of a Puccini comic operetta, Oscar winner Ruehl stars as an earthy ailing Italian villager whose one goal is to be buried beside her ancestors. But as only three plots remain in the local cemetery, her devoted husband, Marcello (Reno), must valiantly attempt to prevent too many paesans from dying before she does. Ruehl and Reno achieve the chemistry of a Mediterranean Lucy and Ricky, and give off the aroma of finely aged Parma ham. B+
