LIVING COLOUR Pride (Epic) This defunct combo set out to prove that African-Americans could play angry, intricate metal as well as anyone, and they did just that on their take-no-prisoners debut, Vivid. But as this compilation illustrates, they didn't quite know what to do after that, and their subsequent music could be as bludgeoning as the worst metal. Still, they made their point: Singles like ''Type'' and ''Glamour Boys,'' and Vernon Reid's dive-bomber guitar, amount to one mighty legacy.
