MIKE HENDERSON Edge of Night (Dead Reckoning) Dumped by RCA after one album, this talented country-rocker took up with like-minded renegades and founded hip new mini-label Dead Reckoning. Henderson is a soulful investigator of down-home American genres -- Delta blues, honky-tonk country, gospel, and early rock; the only minus is a doughy, unmemorable voice. And he's a good songwriter, even if he wears his influences (The Band, John Hiatt) a little too plainly. B+
