Best of the Best was a legitimate action movie about the U.S. Karate Team, while its first sequel brought back star Eric Roberts to dress up what was essentially a high-class kickboxing effort. Best of the Best 3: No Turning Back is a direct-to-video threequel that should've been the one to send the series straight to the toilet, but the films have had a secret weapon all along: former supporting actor Rhee, who both directs and stars here, as a martial artist who rescues a schoolteacher (Showgirls'Gershon) imperiled by her stand against a group of white supremacists. The script may be generic, but the genuinely talented Rhee's adept direction succeeds in making the movie seem a lot more subtle and lyrical than it ever really becomes. B-
