Revolution X

EW's GRADE
D

Revolution X, a misbegotten shoot-'em-up starring Aerosmith (''America's premier rock band,'' the box proclaims), pulls off the unenviable trick of being both gruesomely violent and numbingly boring. The problem is not only the stolid gameplay but also the unappealing nature of the concept: Revolution X, which is also available for Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and CD-ROM for PC, was apparently designed for those who dream of going to Aerosmith concerts and causing massive death and destruction. True, the target audience probably isn't likely to spend an evening at home quietly fitting together Tetris pieces. But while the game's adolescent attitude may be forgivable, the lack of imagination and challenge is not. D
