The Street Fighter Collector's Edition (1975)

Details Rated: Unrated; Genre: Action/Adventure; With: Sonny Chiba

The first movie to get slapped with an X rating for violence (though now ratingless), The Street Fighter Collector's Edition introduced the estimable Chiba, best described as the anti-Bruce Lee. Sullen, snarling, and not interested in fighting pretty, Chiba exudes a negative charisma that's catnip to jaded action fans. The plot is simple: First, Chiba annoys every lowlife in Asia; then, the aggrieved parties come after him. This film (making its video debut along with its three sequels) will appall anyone who approaches it even half seriously. Less sanctimonious viewers will love this letterboxed version of the movie Quentin Tarantino elevated to legendary status in True Romance.
