Shoe Box

The provocatively named, though fully clothed, Canadian male quartet Barenaked Ladies — imagine early R.E.M. meet the Housemartins — bring their delightful harmonies and average-guy looks to a new audio/video arena with Shoe Box. A treasure map serves as the starting point, with samples of every song from their two previous albums, one unreleased tune, six full-length videos, and addresses for websites dedicated to the band. The humor-impaired should steer clear, but all others should find this a spirited and kooky romp. B+
