Tornado (1996)

EW's GRADE
A-

Details Lead Performance: Rory Block; Genres: Blues, Folk

On her latest album Tornado, Rory Block expands from contemporary folk/acoustic blues to a fuller, more sensual sound, reminiscent of Joni Mitchell in her early jazz-bo days. Several songs have a palpable spirituality (''The Last Leviathan''), while the moody and atmospheric ''You Didn't Mind'' (with Mary Chapin Carpenter) celebrates redemptive love.
