NEVER DOUBT the power of the theme song to a Michelle Pfeiffer movie -- just ask Coolio (''Gangsta's Paradise,'' from last year's Dangerous Minds) and now Celine Dion. At press time, the No. 1 song in the country was Dion's ballad ''Because You Loved Me,'' which does double duty as the theme to the Pfeiffer film Up Close & Personal. On the strength of that single's success, the Canadian belter's new disc, Falling Into You, enters the chart at No. 2, becoming her highest-charting album to date. It was a good week for adult-contemporary pop in other ways, too, as Sting's Mercury Falling debuted three spots below Dion. Funny how both albums share the word falling -- something each may do in light of upcoming competition from the Beatles and Stone Temple Pilots.
