The extraordinary 1975 concert Barbara Cook at Carnegie Hall established Broadway star Barbara Cook as the greatest female theatrical cabaret artist of our time. The inclusion here of some previously unreleased performances of songs from Carousel, The Gay Life, and The Music Man makes this significantly superior to the concert's original LP. By turns pensive (''Time Heals Everything''), nostalgic (''Glad Rag Doll''), and exultant (''Carolina in the Morning''), Cook transforms the simplest of pop and Broadway tunes into high art.
