Perhaps in deference to their artists, executives at Geffen, MCA, and Disney recently decided to pull their product from the clubs. And if a lawsuit is forthcoming from retailers, the days of the dirt-cheap CD may be numbered, making a loser of the unlikely winner in all this corporate wrangling: the consumer with a 32-cent stamp and the dream of 11 records for the price of one.
