Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Harbinger

STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE -- HARBINGER (Viacom New Media, CD-ROM for PC, $49.95) Darker and pricklier than its more embraceable Star Trek relatives, Deep Space Nine has never been easy to like. That reputation isn't liable to change with spin-offs like this. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Harbinger looks and sounds good — the detailed graphics are sharply rendered, and the actual cast of DS9 recorded the animated characters' voices — but the game itself is lifeless. As a Tirrion envoy, you must solve a murder on the station and battle an alien threat. The role-playing mystery is uninspired, the puzzles stale, and the shoot-'em-up arcade segments just plain silly. D+
