Kon-Tiki Interactive

A fascinating survey of the scientific adventures of Thor Heyerdahl — including his 1947 expedition on a balsa raft from Peru to Polynesia and his excavations on Easter Island — Kon-Tiki Interactive features footage from his Oscar-winning documentary, Kon-Tiki, hundreds of pages of text from his books, and, discouragingly, some meager recent video interviews with the 81-year-old Norwegian anthropologist and explorer. Although it's beautifully packaged and intellectually rich, this CD-ROM loses an extraordinary opportunity to sum up and synthesize Heyerdahl's lifetime of research, offering instead an avalanche of facts, excerpts, and photos.
