Jungle Book

Melding clips from Disney's 1994 live-action movie with 100-plus minutes of original video, Big Blue puts an interactive spin on Kipling's classic. In this Jungle Book, aimed at 5- to 12-year-olds, players assume the role of wild child Mowgli, who, under wacky Colonel Ilgwom's tutelage, must overcome perilous pitfalls (beware the animal boneyard!), outwit corrupt soldiers, and avoid danger-laden dead ends to find King Louie's crown and return it to the simian sovereign in Monkey City. Despite several tries, I could not get the optional voice-recognition feature to work on my PC, and one puzzle proved virtually insoluble. Still, exciting wide-screen scenarios and vibrant jungle backdrops produce just the kind of monkey business to tame little tigers. B
