Teamed with a pretentious director (''I see a slow dissolve into the boy's racial memory''), Duddy (Richard Dreyfuss) becomes a mini-mogul. His start-up money comes from a drug smuggler, who suckers Duddy into being his courier. But hey, anybody who makes an art film called Happy Bar Mitzvah, Bernie! is probably getting what he deserves.
