It's a wrap: Highest bidder 20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights to Anne Rice's 1989 novel The Mummy, paying approximately $3 million for producer/director James Cameron (The Terminator). Rights to the novel, which features a 3,200-year-old, exquisitely preserved specimen named Ramses, were entombed by now-bankrupt production company Carolco. ''Rice is a great admirer of Jim Cameron,'' says her lawyer, Christine Cuddy. ''She is very, very pleased. And obviously, she's happy to be priced in that league.'' That league refers to the boys' club presided over by fellow thriller writers Michael Crichton and John Grisham, who earned, respectively, $3.5 million and $6 million plus for recent movie deals. But will a Hollywood hunk be willing to play the pharaoh? Cuddy insists, ''This is a very, very handsome mummy.''
